another year, another list of favorite things of the year, and this list shall be for the movies of 2014 i liked.

now, i am ranging this from the ones i liked the least to the ones i liked the most. i shall be showing off the trailer of the movie, along with a short summery of why i liked it. that said, lets get on with the show.

Top 10 movies of 2014.

10.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

yes, there are a lot of things wrong with this movie: the story with the bad guys contaminating New York with a virus- Amazing Spider-Man 1 beat you to that, guys. and Megan Fox as April. i went in with a open-mind with her as April, but... fail. all around. and i don't think there was ever a scene where her mouth was closed.
but i still liked the movie
the Turtles themselves were good- the voices fit the personality's. the action was decent, to say the least. and Shredder is intimidating, as always. and upgading him to Cyber-Shredder.... well, we'll see how Ninja Turtles 2 goes and we'll see.

9.
Transformers: Age of Extinction

people complained that the story was crap. what, Revenge of the Fallen and Dark of the Moon had thought provokers? i thought the story was good. Marky Mark was a good replacement for Shia and the new Transformers were good too- though i will admit, i wasn't expecting John Goodman's voice to come out of Hound.
the action was slowed down enough to where we can actually see what is happening. the Dinobots got badass designs. and Lockdown was a better villain then Megatron-- sorry, Galvatron.
and as for the two sequels- i have a feeling that hte Quintessons- the alien race that has like 5 faces on one body- are the engimatic creators Lockdown was talking about. and hopefully, we'll see Insecticons or maybe even Unicron.

8.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier

People say that this is the Marvel equivilant to the Bourne series. as i have never seen a Bourne movie, i'll take their word for it. that said, i wasn't expecting Hydra to be working behind the scenes, nor Bucky to be the Winter Soldier. Falcon was a good supporting character and the battle with the 3 Helicarriers? Better then the New York Battle in Avengers.
and i think we can safely say that the events here is why Tony created Ultron.

7.
Godzilla

being a HUGE Godzilla fan, i was anticipating this flick. and it paid off. for the most part. it could've been done better- i dare say that the Tristar version is better then this at times, but it's still good. the movie has a Jaws feeling- you know the monster is lurking somewhere and when he appears, all hell breaks loose. the MUTOs were good villains.
let's hope Gareth is one of those people that listens and works to correct criticisms, cause with Rodan, Mothra, and Ghidorah coming in for the second one, it's gonna need to be paced better.

6.
Big Hero 6

Disney does it again. i think they've entered a new Rennasaince, with this, Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph, and of course Frozen being colossal hits, with moderate success from Princess and the Frog and Winnie the Pooh as well.
that siad, this is Disney's first attempt at a Marvel movie, and it pays off. the comics it's based on are a bit more dark and haven't appeared all that much, and the designs and personalitys-- take what you know about the movie characters and pull a complete 180.
and of course, Baymax. who doeasn't love that cuddly robot?

5.
The Lego Movie

The Lego Movie... something nobody thought would work. and yet, we're here now, eating our own words. The characters were loveable, the environments were ingenious, the message of Imagination and Balance was well-delivered. it was just good. and i'm still having trouble trying to get Everything is Awesome out of my head.

4.
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

the final chapter in the Middle-Earth saga, the Hobbit ended with a bang. the first movie was ok, with it being slow and a tad boring. the second one was a even balance of pace and action- not to mention the most intimidating Dragon i've ever seen. and the thrid one- action all the way though.
if you read the book, which came out 70 years ago, you know how it'll end: Smaug dies, 5 armies battle with the enemy's being decimated, and even some of the Dwarven company dies. and the way this ends- it ties in perfectly to Lord of the Rings, ending where it begins.
and for the Tolkien fans wondering why Gandalf knew that the Necromancer was Sauron and wondered why he still went to Minas Tireth to do research, well it's explained: Saruman lied, saying that he defeated him.

3.
My Little Pony: Equestria Girls- Rainbow Rocks

These movies are a clear example of never judging a book by their cover, cause when the synopsis and the trailers for this came out, everyone was angry. 'a battle of the bands movie? this is gonna suck'. and, like Lego, they are eating their own words. not only was this a good movie, this was better then the original: Better songs, better animation, better plot-- just better. and it leaves itself up to a 3rd sequel with that post-credits scene.

2.
How To Train Your Dragon 2

when the first movie came out, i fell in love with How To Train Your Dragon.. it was just so damn awesome. the tv show that followed it was ok, but i, like everyone else who saw it in theaters, wanted a sequel bad!
and loe and behold, we got it.
This is how you do a sequel better then the first one. it's like a balanced bag of action, comedy, mysticism, and drama. the villain himself was all right0 i didn't feel threatened by him, though him killing off one of the main characters was a bit unexpected. and that characters voice actor is coming back for number 3. *shrugs* maybe as a flashback or a ghost.

and my fave movie of 2014........
1.
Guardians of the Galaxy

This... this is the best Marvel movie ever... least until Ultron or Thanos' times to shine. the most perfect balance of Action, Drama, Comedy, and intensity. the characters: Loveable, especially Groot. who doesn't love that walking tree? Ronan the Accuser was also a threatening factor, kinda. and this confirms what everyone already knew for awhile: the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe has been building up to Thanos and the Infinity Stones since film 1.
speaking of the Mad Titan, we get our first good look at him, and man, he came off with such a threatening aura, i felt shivers go down my spines. even his voice is intimidating.

and there you have it: my fave movies of 2014. tata for now.
