Long ago, a destructive conflict called the Great Kharlan War decimated the world, leaving many scars, none worse then the Goddess Martel falling into a eternal sleep. the Great Kharlan Tree, the source of mana, withering away into nothing, and Mana, the source of the world, being depleted to near extinction. if not for the hero Mithos, it would be destroyed. Thanks to him, the world was saved thanks to the establishment of the Church of Martel, which is to keep this deadly conflict from repeating, and Cruxis, a high religion. Both organizations seeks to revive Martel and the Tree, thus saving the world. But they are impeded thanks to the Desians, Half-Elves who wish to send the world into it's destined end by sealing the Seals, the last known suppliers of Mana, or what little there is. Only the Chosen One, a special being chosen by the Angels of Cruxis, can the Desians be defeated and the little mana available to be restored.
least, that's how the legend is supposed to go.
4000 years later, a young boy named Lloyd Irving and his friends accompany his secret love interest Collette Burnel, a Chosen One, on her quest to save the world from the evil Desians, who are forcing humans into labor camps. On their journey, they learn a haunting truth: There are two worlds vying for the limited supply of Mana: their world Sylvarant, and another world on a separate plane, Tethe'alla. and the leader of Cruxis, Yggdrasill, doesn't plan of restoring both worlds any time soon as he is obsessed with reviving Martel, no matter who dies in the process.
and thus, the journey is on to save both worlds, save all those involved, and defeat their now mortal foe; Mithos Yggdrasill. Their quest will be long, with many twists and betrayals, but their perseverance and desire to save all will pull them though.
